First - I'm all for promoting Pov-Ray and the artist inside all of us.

After seeing five replies which were for the most part positive I have
not seen anyone bring up a few important questions in regard to the content
of the posted message.

>>> How about an annual festival of pov where all pov artists contribute

1.) Who is going to manage and coordinate this festive ocassion ?
Someone should form a comittee to hold discussions on this issue.
Where this committee feels specific actions should be taken they
then can choose to splinter into seperate areas of concern and
form subcommities to further the dicussions toward deciding a
reasonable action for the area of concern in question.

2.) Where will the artwork be displayed and if the intention was to
post it here is the newsgroup administator going to be happy with
    the extra file load ?

3.) Additionaly there was mention of advertizing the exsistence of this
contest to the outside graphics community. If the art were presented
here there is a good chance that there would be a large increase of
traffic that would be on a level not normaly seen on this server. I
ask again is this something the newsgroup administrator would like
on his nice, quite, cozy, and private little server ? How do you feel
about the possibility of added non Pov related traffic in your
groups ? Do you really want to invite that kind of crowd ?

I like to know about these sticky little details before my enthusiasm
gets the better of me and thought I would at least raise these issues
before anything concrete comes from it.

Cherio,
